Hopefully Athens has weakened Epirus for you and you'll be able to push them out of Greece while you defend either Larissa or Athens with one of your armies against Macedon. Then you need to balance between Epirus and Macedon. You might need to recruit some mercenaries temporarily (1-2 turns) to defend while your army heals.

If Macedon is occupied up north storm Athens and defend against any counter-attacks that will likely come. Then both factions get damaged, Athens armies get extended and Athens itself is relatively undefended.

In any case they'll be the only greek faction left in Greece.Ī better scenario is to see if Athens will declare war and attack Epirus for you. If you have your two armies in decent shape Macedon may not be as strong as you think and you might be able to take them on. Storm Athens and then wait for Macedon to respond. Wait for Macedon to go north against Thrace. But it is possible to take their two cities in Greece and let them go to Italy. If you attack too soon, they can win and you may lose right there. Who to attack first depends on circumstances.Įpirus is isolated politically but they probably has the best army initially and represents a tough challenge as a result. The more Spartan hoplites the better but you may not want to wait until you are all full up with just Spartan Hoplites. Try to build up your forces until you have like 1-2 relatively large armies with a combination of hoplites, Perioikoi pikes, cavarly and pelasts. Your hoplites are actually quite good early on in the game and none of those factions will really have high quality units early on. Ideally one at time.ĭon't wait for Spartan pikes.

Epirus, Athens and Macedon.Īt some point you have to take out three. You have 3 factions you need to deal with as Sparta early on.
